Sources & calculation
NASA POWER: equal-weight mean of 10 fixed sample points; trailing 7-day rain totals, temperature means and root-zone wetness compared with the 2001–2020 monthly climatology. Temperature differences are in °F. Wetness is a modeled index, not a measurement of the top 1 m. Lines show daily rolling 7-day anomalies; drought shows weekly readings.
US Drought Monitor: mean of the ten states’ land-area percentages in moderate drought or worse (D1–D4). This is not the percentage of corn acreage exposed. Every regional reading requires all ten samples; missing data are never treated as zero. Map colors refer to sampled locations; “near normal” means within ±10% of the rainfall baseline.
No compounding, fees, taxes or slippage are included.

Track how much of the U.S. corn crop has reached each stage. Compare the current percentage with the five-year average; differences are percentage points (pp), not days.
Good / Excellent combines the top two USDA condition categories. The 1–5 index summarizes all five categories. Weekly and yearly comparisons show how the reported condition has changed.
Recent NASA POWER estimates from 10 sample points are compared with the 2001–2020 monthly baseline. Drought is the mean state land-area share in D1 or worse. These are recent conditions, not forecasts.
The line shows the historical seasonal price pattern, normalized to a starting index of 100. Crop and weather data provide context; the curve does not include weather adjustments or a modeled weather premium.
A compact summary of the latest crop report: progress, Good / Excellent condition and the weighted condition index. Comparison badges and the summary are calculated from the reported data, not quoted USDA commentary.
